Would you like to be able to purchase healthy, grass-fed beef raised locally? Like the idea of being able to stock your freezer with the cuts of beef you love the most? Here’s your chance.
Place your deposit here to reserve your 1/4 custom-cut beef. Orders placed now will be ready at the butcher in mid-July.
The total cost of everything will be about $850-1050. You can expect to get about 75-90 pounds of finished beef (weights vary, and your costs are based on the hanging weight of the beef). We will send you a PayPal invoice for the remaining balance you owe us once we know the hanging weight. The balance is due to us before you pick up your beef. You will pay the processing/harvesting fees directly to Byron Center Meats when you pick up your beef from them.
This $200 deposit is non-refundable. We understand that this is a significant commitment, and encourage you to ask any questions you may have before committing. Your pre-order allows us to reserve your beef for you and concentrate on the important business of growing good food for you and your family.

Shady Side Farm cattle are born and raised on pasture at our farm. They are fed by their mothers, and then transition to grass and fed only grass or hay (with a mineral supplement). They are raised organically, with no medications or added hormones given to them.
What cuts are available? Here are some standard cuts:
• Beef roasts of all types
• Steaks (delmonico, sizzler, t-bone, porterhouse, tenderloin, rib, and more)
• Stew meat and ground beef
• Organs and bones for broth
Belted Galloway steers vary in size from 900-1,100 pounds. An average sized live steer produces a carcass/hanging weight of about 500 pounds. A quarter of a beef will have a hanging weight of about 125-140 pounds and yield about 75-90 pounds of meat for your freezer, depending on how many boneless vs. bone-in cuts you choose. You will be able to specify to the butcher which cuts of beef that you would like.
